Right Way Restore

Custom Kitchen Cabinets in Columbus, Ohio

Cabinetry is one of the most important decisions in a kitchen, but it should be planned around the kitchen, not chosen first and built around later.

Whether the goal is new cabinetry, a refacing project, or a simpler paint update, the right approach depends on the existing kitchen, the layout, and what the space needs to function well.

Right Way Restore provides kitchen cabinetry in Columbus, Ohio, coordinated as part of the overall kitchen project, from design and material selection through installation and completion.

Cabinet Options

Not every kitchen needs the same cabinet approach. The right option depends on the condition of your existing cabinets, the scope of your project, and what the space needs to function well.

New Cabinetry — Stock, Semi-Custom & Fully Custom

We can completely replace the existing cabinetry using stock, semi-custom, or fully custom cabinets. This can range from a straightforward same-layout cabinet replacement during a Kitchen Update to completely custom cabinetry designed around a new layout during a Full Kitchen Remodel.

Cabinet Refacing / Redooring

With refacing/redooring, we keep the existing cabinet boxes and update the visible cabinetry with new doors, drawer fronts, panels, and other finished components as needed, through a vendor who can manufacture doors and panels in nearly any style and a wide variety of wood species. Refacing can make sense when the existing boxes are in good condition, but it isn't automatically the more cost-effective choice. Depending on the kitchen, new cabinetry can be a comparable investment while offering more flexibility. We compare the options before recommending a direction.

Cabinet Painting

Painting is a separate process from refacing/redooring. When the existing cabinets and layout are appropriate, we can professionally paint the existing cabinetry instead of replacing or refacing it.

Cabinetry Built Around Your Kitchen, Not the Other Way Around

Cabinetry should start with how the kitchen needs to function, not with a catalog of styles to choose from.

We consider the layout, storage needs, available space, and the way you use the kitchen every day before making decisions about cabinet configuration, materials, or finishes.

Those considerations shape the cabinetry plan, from the overall layout down to the storage details that make the kitchen easier to use.

The result is cabinetry designed around the practical needs of your household rather than a standard configuration.

Stock, Semi-Custom & Fully Custom Cabinetry

Right Way Restore has access to stock, semi-custom, and fully custom cabinetry, and part of our design process is helping you determine which level actually makes sense for your project.

Our fully custom line is truly custom. Cabinets can be manufactured in just about any size or configuration needed, with a large range of door styles and wood species, painted or stained in essentially any color. Fully custom cabinetry is considerably more expensive and carries a longer lead time, often 2–4 months for the cabinets alone depending on when they’re ordered.

Stock and semi-custom cabinetry offer more standard sizing and configuration options at a lower investment and shorter lead time, which is a better fit for many projects. We compare the options against your layout, timeline, and budget before recommending a direction.

Cabinetry as Part of Your Kitchen Project

Cabinetry is primarily part of the complete Kitchen Update or Full Kitchen Remodeling service we provide, not a standalone retail purchase.

01

Cabinetry in a Kitchen Update

If the existing kitchen layout works, we may install completely new cabinetry, reface/redoor the existing cabinetry, or paint the existing cabinetry, while coordinating countertops, backsplash, flooring, lighting, appliances, plumbing fixtures, and other finishes.

02

Cabinetry in a Full Kitchen Remodel

If the kitchen needs to function differently, the cabinetry is designed around the new layout and coordinated with structural work, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and the rest of the construction.

We Plan Before We Demo

Fully custom cabinetry can take approximately 2–4 months to manufacture and deliver.

That’s exactly why cabinet design, measurements, selections, ordering, and expected lead times are worked through and coordinated with countertops, appliances, and the rest of the project before demolition begins.

We don’t want to tear a kitchen apart and then start figuring out when the cabinets will actually arrive.

Materials, Storage & Hardware

Cabinetry is more than door style and color. It’s a major part of how the kitchen actually functions. Depending on the project, we can incorporate:

  • Deep drawer bases
  • Pull-out shelving
  • Pantry storage
  • Trash and recycling pull-outs
  • Tray dividers
  • Spice storage
  • Drawer and utensil organizers
  • Corner cabinet solutions
  • Appliance storage
  • Broom and utility cabinets
  • Other storage solutions designed around how you use the kitchen

These decisions are worked through as part of the cabinetry plan so the finished cabinets look intentional and function the way your household needs them to.

Designing Around the Home, Not Forcing the Home Around the Cabinets

On one recent project, an existing furnace exhaust pipe ran directly through the planned cabinet layout. Rather than replacing a nearly new furnace just to eliminate the pipe, we designed a custom spice and broom cabinet around it, and incorporated open shelving built from wood sourced from the homeowner's family farm. It's a good example of what it looks like to design cabinetry around the realities of the home instead of the other way around.

What Makes a Quality Kitchen Cabinet?

Two cabinets that look similar on the surface can carry very different price tags, and the difference usually comes down to what you can’t see at a glance:

  • Cabinet box construction
  • Drawer construction
  • Hinges and slides
  • Materials
  • Finish durability
  • Hardware quality
  • Level of customization
  • Warranty coverage

Understanding these factors helps explain why cabinet pricing varies as much as it does, and helps you evaluate what you’re actually getting for the investment.
